The Best of the Best Vegan Mascaras
It seems like finding that perfect mascara is a never-ending journey. We all have our go-tos, but we are also always on the hunt for something better. We want that one mascara that defines, builds volume, adds length, and lasts without being a nightmare to remove. It should not be as difficult as it is.
Another problem is that all of us have such different lashes, so one that I adore might not work for you and vice versa. But with so many beauty lovers going cruelty-free or even vegan, it can be difficult to pick the best from a world of flops. With so many brands still testing on animals, there are only so many decent cruelty-free mascaras out. As for vegans, the ingredient that prevents so many mascaras from being so is beeswax. It is usually the main ingredient in mascaras; similarly to lip balms.
Although I am in the process of going cruelty-free, I am not vegan. But I do happen to have a mild allergy to beeswax, which has led me to avoid it at all costs. So whenever I shop for mascaras, I check the ingredient list for beeswax, which in turn has led me to find some fantastic vegan mascaras.
Knowing what the struggle to find a killer mascara is, I am not just going to simply toss out a list of mascaras that are vegan so you can throw your money away, rather these are vegan mascaras that have the best reviews on the internet, the best ingredients, and offer the best of the best, even compared to non-vegan formulas.

Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions is a mascara that actually adds tubes to the ends of your lashes. Unlike a fiber mascara that shoots lengthening bits off in all directions, the tubes attach themselves to the ends of your lashes to give you naturally lengthening effect. Now this is not the most volumizing formula and it is not the easiest to the build, but if you want unmatched length this is the one for you. Also, Thrive Causemetics is a fully vegan brand that donates a product to a woman in need for every one bought.

One of the only vegan waterproof mascaras is Ere Perez Avocado Waterproof Mascara. Although the brand is cruelty-free, it is not a fully vegan brand. Ere Perez is based in Australia and is known for their natural cosmetics. You can find this mascara at Free People or you can order it online. But as someone who has watery eyes and struggles to find mascaras that hold a curl, this one is a must-have. To make this mascara vegan, instead of using beeswax the formula is based on carnauba wax, palm kernel wax, soybean seed wax, and various natural oils. These ingredients help the mascara to hold onto the lashes and even help to promote strength and growth for healthier looking lashes.

If you want an affordable vegan mascara, Pacifica is the most budget-friendly of the bunch. Plus the entire brand is 100% vegan. Pacifica offers a handful of vegan mascaras to choose from. If you go for a lengthening formula, volumizing one or even if you like a brown or blue colored mascara, they have something for everyone. But to point out their most loved, the Aquarian Gaze Water Resistant Long Lash Mineral Mascara will hold up the longest on hot and humid days. It has a molded brush and contains coconut oil to nourish the lashes while giving them a false lash effect. The newest of the Pacifica mascaras is the Black Crystals Supercharged Extending Mascara. This has a more traditional looking brush with a bit of a thicker formula. As said by some testers, the only complaint is their lashes grew almost too long, because now their lashes rub against their lid. But to me, that is the goal!
Lune + Aster

You may not have heard of Lune + Aster, but their STRATOSPHERE VOLUMIZING MASCARA is a very underrated vegan option. Not all their products are vegan, but the collection is growing and is fully cruelty-free. If you want volume over everything else this is the one to go for. It builds and builds and does not look clumpy or over done.

Even Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is vegan! I bet you didn't know that. All of the Too Faced products are cruelty-free, but many of their best sellers are in fact vegan. Hey, the more you know. This is one of the most loved and repurchased mascaras in the world. If you have not heard beauty gurus raving about the effects of this mascara, where have you been? I am beyond happy to report this is a vegan formula, but do be aware, the waterproof version is not.

Another more Indie brand is Ecco Bella. They are cruelty-free and mostly vegan; however, some of their pigmented products do contain carmine. But their Flower Color Natural Mascara is free of all animal products and is water resistant. This means it will hang around, but not be a nightmare to remove. This mascara has the most basic of brushes, but delivers a flirty and flared out lash look that is always classic.
So which of the best vegan mascaras will be the best for you and your lashes?
